SMS Verbal Consent Script
Public reviewer copy of the script StratusLog or participating flight schools use when collecting verbal opt-in consent for service-related SMS/text messages.

Purpose and scope
This script is used only for service-related or transactional SMS messages, such as lesson reminders, schedule confirmations or changes, billing/payment notices, account alerts, and support updates. Marketing or promotional SMS messages require written consent; verbal consent alone is not sufficient for marketing text messages.
Verbal opt-in script
“Would you like to receive text messages from StratusLog and/or your flight school about your account and flight training services? These messages may include lesson reminders, schedule confirmations or changes, billing or payment notices, account alerts, and support updates.
Message frequency varies based on your activity, but a typical user may receive up to two messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply HELP for help at any time, or reply STOP to opt out at any time.
Our Terms of Service are available at https://getstratuslog.com/terms/ and our Privacy Policy is available at https://getstratuslog.com/privacy/. Do you consent to receive these service-related text messages? Please answer yes or no.”
Enrollment confirmation
If the customer answers “yes,” staff should confirm:
“Thank you. You are now enrolled to receive service-related text messages from StratusLog and/or your flight school. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out.”
If the customer answers “no,” staff should confirm that they will not be enrolled in SMS messaging.
Text opt-in keywords and automated replies
StratusLog may also support opt-in by text. Supported opt-in keywords: START, YES, UNSTOP.
Opt-in auto-reply: “StratusLog: You are now opted in to receive service-related text messages about scheduling, lessons, billing, account alerts, and support. Msg frequency varies, typically up to 2 msgs/month. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out.”
Help auto-reply: “StratusLog: You are receiving service-related messages from StratusLog and/or your flight school. Reply STOP to opt out. For assistance, contact support@getstratuslog.com or visit https://getstratuslog.com/contact/.”
Age-gated content: No. StratusLog messages do not contain age-gated content.
Consent recordkeeping
When verbal consent is collected, StratusLog or the participating school should record the customer’s phone number, consent date and time, consent method, staff member or source that collected consent, and the customer’s yes/no response.
- Consent is not a condition of purchase.
- HELP and STOP instructions must be provided before enrollment.
- Opt-outs must be honored promptly.
- Marketing SMS requires written consent, such as a checked website box, signed authorization, or opt-in by text.
